Game Recap: San Jose Sharks
The Lightning strike back! After their last time facing the San Jose Sharks ending in a 5-2 loss and their last game played ending in a 4-2 loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Lightning wasted no time on a comeback to reclaim victory. They powered through and took charge of the game with an impressive 6-3 win over the San Jose Sharks.
Mathieu Joseph started the game off with an early Lightning goal only 3 minutes and 32 seconds into the game. J.T. Miller and Anthony Cirelli assisted on the first goal of the night. Alex Killorn followed with a goal of his own, giving the Lightning a 2-0 lead on the Sharks. Just before the end of the first, Evander Kane made the first Sharks goal of the night with 21 seconds left in the period.
End of First Period: 2-1 Tampa Bay Lightning
Evander Kane quickly scored his second goal of the night. He scored less than a minute into the second period. Joonas Donskoi and Radim Simek assisted on the second goal. This brought the San Jose Sharks to a 2-2 tie with the Lightning. However, the Sharks tie with the Lightning was shortlived. At 7 minutes and 29 seconds into the period, Yanni Gourde took the Lightning to a 1 goal lead with assists from Steven Stamkos and Ondrej Palat. Shortly after, Victor Hedman scored another goal for the Lightning, assisted by Nikita Kuchurov, giving the Tampa Bay Lightning a 2 goal lead on the San Jose Sharks.
End of Second Period: 4-2 Tampa Bay Lightning
Steven Stamkos opens up the third period with yet another Lightning goal, just 5 minutes and 8 seconds into the third. Nikita Kucherov and Ryan McDonagh assisted on the fifth Lightning goal of the night.
With 8 minutes left in the game, the Lightning defense held the Sharks to 32 shots on goal and 2 goals. Meanwhile, the Lightning controlled the game offensively with 23 shots on goal and 5 goals scored.
With just under 6 minutes left in the game, Steven Stamkos scored his second goal of the night. Victor Hedman and Brayden Point assisted on the goal. This goal also gave the Lightning a fourth consecutive goal and totaling the Lightning score to 6 goals. With less than a minute left in the game, Marcus Sorensen scored a goal for the San Jose Sharks, giving them a total of 3 goals for the night.
