Game Recap: Tampa Bay Lightning VS Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins and the Lightning both came into the game strong with many goals in the first period. Starting off the scoring was Garrett Wilson of the Penguins. Teddy Blueger and Matt Cullen assisted on the goal. Then, Yanni Gourde retaliated with a Lightning goal to put on the scoreboard, with Brayden Point and Victor Hedman assisting. Quickly following, Erik Cernak scored a second goal for the Lightning, assisted by Cedric Paquette and Braydon Coburn. The period ended with Lightning leading by 1 goal.
End of the First Period: 2-1 Tampa Bay Lightning
The Lightning opened up with their third consecutive goal as well as their third total goal of the night, scored by Anthony Cirelli. Alex Killorn and Ryan McDonagh assisted. The Penguins came back with a goal by Jared McCann, with an assist from Bryan Rust. Then, Bryan Rust turned around and scored a goal of his own, assisted by Jake Guentzel, leaving the game tied at 3.
End of the Second Period: 3-3 Tie
Coming down to the third period, the teams headed into it with a tie game of 3. Less than 5 minutes into the third, Tyler Johnson broke the tie with yet another Lightning goal with assists by Ondrej Palat and Steven Stamkos. J.T. Miller came in with another goal, adding to the Lightning lead with Alex Killorn and Anthony Cirelli assisting. Tanner Pearson scored a Penguin goal to lessen the lead with Sidney Crosby assisting, but ultimately the game ended with a Lightning win.
