First Period

The first goal of the night was made by Michael Raffl of the Flyers in the first period. The Lightning came out looking like they were still stuck on Christmas vacation until Nikita Kucherov answered back with a goal, tying the game 1-1. Brayden Point scored a second goal for the Lightning just before the end of the first to give the Lightning the upper hand.
End of 1st period: 2-1 Lightning

Second Period

The Flyers started the second period with an early score by Claude Giroux, bringing the game back to a tie at 2-2. Steven Stamkos broke the tie with his first goal of the night, then quickly followed with a second goal in the second, bringing the score to 4-2 Lightning. Tyler Johnson scored a funky third lightning goal just before the end of the second. Kucherov and Stamkos both end the period sporting a total of 4 points each and giving Kucherov the league lead.
End of 2nd period: 5-2 Lightning

Third Period

The Flyers came back full force in the third period. Dale Weise scored an early third-period goal for the Flyers, bringing the score to 5-3 Lightning. This was quickly followed by a second Flyer goal early in the period, making the score 5-4 Lightning. Tying the game at 5-5 was a goal by Ivan Provorov. With the game on the line, the Lightning finally started to wake up in attempts to prevent the game from having to go into overtime.
End of 3rd period: 5-5


After a 5-5 ending in the third period, the Lightning faced the Flyers in a very short-lived overtime with Alex Killorn scoring 18 seconds into overtime and winning the game for the Lightning 6-5.

Final: 6-5 Lightning
