The Tampa Bay Lightning opened up the game with a spark. To start the game off, Tyler Johnson scored the first Lightning goal with Nikita Kucherov and Anton Stralman assisting. Following that, the Lightning got a second goal in the first with a goal from J.T. Miller, assisted by Nikita Kucherov and Victor Hedman. The Lightning defensive line kept the Rangers at bay throughout the first, leaving New York scoreless at a 2 goal disadvantage.

Then, New York put a second score on the board with a goal from Jimmy Vesey, assisted by Claesson and Shattenkirk. The Rangers then tied the game with another goal scored by Boo Nieves.
