First Period

Tampa Bay had a strong first period with 2 goals and an equally strong defense holding their opponents at bay. Tyler Johnson scored the first Lightning goal with assists from McDonagh and Kucherov. Then, Anthony Cirelli closed the period with the second Lightning goal of the night, assisted by Sergachev and Killorn. As the first period wrapped up, the Lightning ended it with a two-goal lead over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Second Period

The Lightning continued to strike in the second, adding to their lead over the game. Tyler Johnson got his second goal of the night, adding a third consecutive Lightning goal of the night. Point and McDonagh assisted. Then, making for a fourth consecutive Lightning score, Ondrej Palat scored for a 4-0 game with Coburn and Rutta assisting on the play. Finally, the Leafs broke the shutout, getting a goal for Toronto. Auston Matthews scored the goal that got Toronto on the board with assists from Johnsson and Zaitsev. Just before the end of the second period, Cedric Paquette regained the four-goal lead for Tampa with the fifth Lightning goal of the night, with assists from Hedman and Gourde.

Third Period

Entering the third period, Tampa Bay already held an impressive lead with a lot of scoring from the Lightning. However, Cedric Paquette scored the last Lightning goal and his second goal of the night, giving Tampa a 5 goal advantage on the game with Gourde and Rutta assisting. While, Toronto struggled to keep up with Tampa’s scoring, they did manage to get one more goal on the board before the end of the third. In the last minute of the game, Connor Brown scored the final goal of the night with assists from Marleau and Kadri.
