The Boston Bruins started the first period off strong, taking an early lead in the game. Starting off, David Krejci scored the first goal of the day with McAvoy and Pastrnak assisting on the play. Then, Danton Heinen closed out the period with another goal for Boston with Kampfer assisting. The period ended with the Bruins holding a two-goal lead over Tampa.
End of the First Period: 2-0 Boston Bruins
With the start of the second period, Tampa Bay began to make their dominating comeback of the game. Starting their push towards victory, Erik Cernak scored the first lightning goal of the game with Miller and Gourde assisting. Next, Steven Stamkos followed up with an unassisted goal. Then, Anthony Cirelli closed out the period with a goal, assisted by Miller and Coburn. The second period ended with Boston trailing by 1 goal.
End of the Second Period: 3-2 Tampa Bay Lightning
Entering the third period of the game, Tampa Bay held a one-goal lead over the Bruins. They continued to control the game into the third. Starting, Nikita Kucherov scored an early-period goal, scoring less than a minute into the start of the third. McDonagh assisted on the scoring play. Then, Matt Grzelcyk came back with the third goal of the day for the Boston Bruins with Pastrnak and Krejci assisting on the play. However, this was also their final goal and they were unable to reclaim control of the game. Following, Braydon Coburn scored another Lightning goal with Cirelli and Girardi assisting on the play. Finally, bringing the game to an end, Tyler Johnson scored the final goal of the day with Palat and Kucherov assisting.
