Tampa Bay Lightning VS Columbus Blue Jackets Game Recap

First Period

Tampa Bay started off strong, establishing an early lead in the first period of the game. Kicking off the game, Alex Killorn scored the first goal of the night, unassisted on the play. Then, Anthony Cirelli scored a second consecutive goal with Cernak and Miller assisting on the play. Lastly, closing out the period, Yanni Gourde scored a third Lightning goal Sergachev and Rutta assisting on the play. The Lightning ended the period with a strong three-goal lead over the Blue Jackets.

Second Period

As the game went into the second period, the scoring slowed down drastically in the game. Only one goal was scored in the second. Nick Foligno scored the only goal of the period with Anderson assisting on the play, putting Columbus on the scoreboard for the game. By the end of the second period, the Tampa Bay Lightning still held a lead on the game by two goals.

Third Period

With the game heading into the final period, Columbus picked up momentum. First, David Savard scored an unassisted goal, leaving Columbus only one goal behind Tampa. Then, Josh Anderson scored a goal with Jenner assisting on the play, bringing the game to a tie. Lastly, the game ended with Seth Jones scoring the final goal of the evening with Panarin and Werenski assisting on the play. The Lightning were unable to recover on their scoring deficit. Consequently, the game came to a close with a Tampa Bay defeat.
