Andrei Vasilevskiy Returns to The Lightning Lineup

On Thursday, December 13, Andrei Vasilevskiy returned to the Lightning’s lineup just in time to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs after having previously been out for over a month from a broken foot.  The injury was expected to keep Vasy out for 4-6 weeks so having him come back for this game meant putting him back in very early on in his recovery, hitting only the 4-week mark.

Being gone so long on top of his recovery time left many fans wondering how Vasy would handle returning against a strong team like the Maple Leafs. Would he come back full- force or would he need time to regain himself? But, after last night’s game, it is safe to say that Vasilevsky did not disappoint!

The Lightning won against Toronto with a 4-1 win with Vasy showing an impressive performance. The Leafs had an astounding 49 shots on goal last night with the returned Lightning goaltender successfully stopping 48 attempts.

“Vasilevskiy was outstanding tonight,” Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. “He was the best player on the ice for us by a country mile” (Tampa Bay Times)
